The MMRI is currently carrying out a clinical trial for a new type of treatment for prostate cancer and is in the advanced stages of pre-clinical testing for treatments for multiple myeloma, breast cancer and leukaemia. Established in 2003 as a joint venture to combine the research activities of the MMRI with the clinical activities of Mater Health Services, the aim of the Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) is to bring scientific discoveries out of the laboratory and into the clinic and wider community. The CTC is focused on immunotherapy, biotherapy and other cell-based therapy, which use the body’s immune system and natural biology to fight diseases, including cancer. |
